Has Nintendo broken the wiimotes?

I've been using wiimote lib to make games for the past couple years. Recently some of my clients bought some new wiimotes and they didn't work with my games. At first i thought the wiimotes were broken, but over the past week, we've bought 12 wiimotes (both nintendo, and nyko). all of them return only Infinity from all accelerometer axies.

Our old wiimotes continue to work fine. I've tried using ver 1.7 of wiimotelib, but still get the infinity measurement.

Is anyone else experiencing this?
